Here's exactly what it is. Under the HK416D-SF markings, the rifle is built on HK's German-made MR223, the semi-auto sibling of the HK416A5, and B&T sets it up in the 416D-SF configuration. That gets you German HK parts throughout, the later A5-generation ambidextrous lower, and HK's cold hammer forged, chrome-lined barrel, which you won't find on a US-built MR556. It is not one of the earlier police-surplus 416D-SF rifles, which trade for far more. Your Form 3/Form 4 paperwork will read HK416DSF.
If you've wanted a real HK 416 and accepted you'll never own a transferable one, this is the closest you can get in the US.
